There is an urgent need to speed up new house construction to meet escalating demand in the UK. Even when regional variations are taken into account, more than 4 million new homes will be required by 2020.
This demand is driven not by population growth but by changing demographic and social trends. The three main reasons behind the projected increase in household numbers according to the Joseph Roundtree Foundation (Tackling disadvantage: A twenty-year enterprise, 2002) are longer lives, more single people, and immigration.
EBP is proud to be working with Scottish Sustainable Homes Ltd (SSHL) to introduce the Energyflo™ cell in their new ‘pod house’ construction. The cells will be factory fitted in pods that are uplifted to site and assembled in one day, providing high performance, affordable, low carbon footprint houses that are indistinguishable, appearance-wise, from any well-designed quality home. The ‘dynamic pod system’ will also feature an air source heat pump that, operating in tandem with the cells, will meet the annual heating and hot water demand of the house using a fraction of the energy that would otherwise be used. As DBBs, the dynamic pod houses will help to meet 2016 zero carbon standards years ahead of schedule, enhance the local community and deliver exceptional performance for many years in one attractive, affordable package.

More than 200 dynamic pod houses will be built in Scotland in 2008, with similar numbers projected in successive years to 2012.
